You can help

Hearts of Hope is a 501 (c) (3) organization and exists solely through donations of our supporters! Thank you for considering Hearts of Hope and for continuing to help make our services possible.

You can make a donation online, through PayPal, by clicking "Donate Now" in the menu at right.

Making a donation in honor of a child's birthday or memory is a great way of creating awareness and providing hope to families affected by congenital heart defects.

Hearts of Hope offers many volunteer opportunities:

  • Would you like to provide your pediatrician and pediatric cardiologist with HOH brochures/literature?
  • Are you available to assist with set up and clean up at our annual Day For Hearts Event in February or our Hearts of Hope Annual Fall party?
  • Can you help assemble carebags?
  • Are you interested in helping at our Annual Golf Outing in August?
  • Would you like to donate a unique silent auction item?

We appreciate all of your efforts to help! Contact us at

Share Your Heart For The Holidays

On December 15, 2009, my son Christian had open heart surgery for a condition called Tetralogy of Fallot at U of M Mott Children’s Hospital.  This heart defect is one of the most common diagnosed in the past few years and it is very correctable if operated on in the first year of a child’s life.  Christian recovered very well from the surgery and each year has received a “clean bill of health” from his cardiologist.  It is likely that he will not need another surgery.  With that said, it has been heart breaking to us to hear about other families who have gone through so much more with their CHD children.

One day, my husband and I decided to make a difference in Christian’s life through his amazing blessing.  We made a pact that each year on Dec. 15th we would deliver gifts to a family with CHD that is in need of some joy for the holiday.  In 2011, we were able to bless a family with a boy who needs a heart transplant.  We have become great friends with this family ever since.  Our family business was also able to bless a family who had a little girl in need of a heart transplant as well; she unfortunately passed away a few days before we were able to deliver the gifts.  It seemed like her family needed this blessing more than even before and after that experience we knew that we could not stop at 2 families!

In 2012, we were able to sponsor 7 different families who were in-patient or recent out-patients at U of M.  With the help of our business, our church, other heart families, and friends we made it possible to purchase and deliver many gifts to these families on Dec. 15th!   The experience of blessing these families really made an imprint on the hearts of those who participated!

It is our mission to reach as many families each year by offering them love and support as well as a special delivery of gifts for the holidays.  It makes our experience and blessing to have a healthy son today so much more of a gift when we can bless someone in return.  Connecting heart families and those affected by a precious heart child with another heart family who is in need is what we’ve set out to do.  If you are interested in sponsoring a family, please contact me so that we can place you with someone to bless this year!

We can provide you with information on how this program works along with ideas as to how you can really affect this family in such a positive way.
